A fire changes the job. It needs its own supply rather than sharing the television socket, and it needs clearance around the aperture, so the frame is built differently from the Hilbre even though the finished face looks similar.

The fire is an electric one, which is why this can go on any wall in any house rather than only where there is a flue. It runs with the heat off if you only want the flame, and most people use it that way for nine months of the year.

Questions people ask.

Does the fire need its own electrical supply?

Yes. It is not something to run off an extension lead or share with the television socket. A spur is electrical work, so that part is booked in with an electrician and it is the one element we do not do ourselves.

Can I have a different size of fire?

Yes. Inset fires run from 36 inch up to 72 inch, and the Thurstaston is priced around a 50. Going wider moves the price and sometimes the proportions of the panelling, so we draw it before you commit.

Does the television get too hot above the fire?

Not with the clearance built in. Inset electric fires throw their heat forward and out of the top of the unit, so the recess above is set back and vented. This is exactly why the aperture and the recess are built as one frame rather than cut in afterwards.

Can the flame run without the heat?

Yes, on every fire we fit. The flame effect and the heater are separate, so you can have the look in summer without warming the room.

What if my chimney breast is not square?

Almost none of them are. The frame is packed and shimmed off the wall until the face is plumb and flat, which is why the finished wall looks straight even when what is behind it is not.
