Two alcoves are the point of this wall. They give the eye somewhere to go other than the screen, and they are the reason a Caldy still looks like something when the television is switched off, which is most of the time.
The shelves are adjustable rather than fixed, because what people actually put in an alcove changes and a fixed shelf at the wrong height is a permanent annoyance. The lighting sits behind the front edge of each shelf so you see the light on the objects and not the strip itself.

Questions people ask.
Can I have one alcove instead of two?
Yes, and on an off centre chimney breast it is often the better answer, because a symmetrical wall in an asymmetrical room looks wrong. The price does not drop by half, because most of the cost is the frame and the fire rather than the alcove itself.
How much weight will the alcove shelves take?
They are built to hold books, which is the heaviest thing people usually put in them. Tell us at the survey if you are planning something heavier and we will build the supports to suit.
Is the alcove lighting dimmable?
Yes. It runs on its own switch, separate from the fire, so the alcoves can be on with everything else off.
Will it fit a 3.8m wall?
Not as a Caldy. Past about three and a half metres the proportions want another bay or full height panelling, which is the Parkgate. We would rather tell you that than stretch a design past where it works.
Can the alcoves have doors on instead?
Then it is a Hoylake. Closed storage changes the carcass, not just the front, so it is priced as the next wall up rather than as an extra.
